Despite the Afcon23 final lost to the host Ivory Coast, three players from the Nigeria’s Super Eagles were considered good enough for the Team of the Tournament by the Technical Study group put together by the African Soccer governing body.
The team of the tournament was announced on Wednesday afternoon and the trio of defenders William Troost Ekong, Ola Aina and forward Ademola Lookman were listed.
Ekong was named the tournament’s most valuable player on Sunday after the final following his superb display for the Eagles.
Lookman was responsible for the Super Eagles reaching the semi-final of the tournament with 3 goals against Cameroon and Angola.
Aina on his part was important to the Super Eagles team with his ability to switch positions at ease.
