When two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffer and Before you start any battle, make sure you have what it takes to fight your opponent. Politics is a different ball game with different faces. You don’t go to battle without due consultations trust from your allies to give you a backing if need be.
Amaju Pinnick battled the head without enough power punch, he thought those he relied on will be enough to support his course. Politics is surely a dirty game. The people he thought would give him a lift dumped him when it matters most. It was a serious back stabbing with a very long knife out of no where. The end of this battle has given birth to more enemies than friends. It has further divided African Football.
In my earlier earlier report, i write on my social media platform about the power tussle at the top of CAF echelon and how tricky and slippery it has been which made me to dedicate my time in Cairo to the ensuing battle by digging into the root of it all. It was clear that heads will roll at some point but who will make the first call. Ahmad did and he did it with a grandeur. He moved like a gladiator and trapped Pinnick like a lion in full charge of its prey. It was a sad end from grace to grass for Pinnick among his colleagues.
For those who are not in the know, The position of CAF VP is not an elected one. It is the right of the President to propose to the EXCO those he want as his 1&2nd VP every 2 years. There is nothing like the 3rd VP. Ahmad just created it to make his allies happy for doing a good job.
Uptil a year ago, West Africa was enjoying the full power play in the corridor of African football. If you remember very well, Amaju Pinnick replaced Ghana’s Kwesi Nyamkati on 5/7/18 just a year ago. This was after Anas a journalist from Ghana was used to nail him in a stunt operation. A year after, the man who replaced him was also nailed making two in a row to darkened the bright light of West African power and say in African football. For me personally it was a sad song because This two personalities fought tirelessly for the emergence of President Ahmad Ahmad.
They spent their time and resources to reposition CAF with their vibrant ideas and skills. Unfortunately they both have a weakness. They trust easily and have no thorough understanding of how to play politics at that level. They fell for baits and got nicked for peanuts. The West Africans were practically used and dumped.
The power of African Football is now in the hands of minnows who contribute little or nothing to the development of the game in the continent. The main pillars of the game are made to slave for the minnows. Come to ask your self, has any African sub region done more for the game on and off the pitch of play than West Africa? NO.
Unfortunately, those who got the powers and smell it made a serious error of judgement. They refused to consolidate and entrench their own where it matters and failed to build a solid fence around the power they got. Instead they went to bed with the enemy and got raped and stabbed by the same enemy that lured them. Used and dumped is the name.
Amaju Pinnick’s decision to battle Ahmad without checking his end led to his downfall. He was seen as arrogant and untrusted in the camp by his colleagues. He proved to know too much and act like their boss most time. Ahmad on the other hand was the quiet smooth operator type who also has power and understand how to use it.
The battle line was drawn between the two and Ahmad struck first using his link to buy enough trust from his allies. Pinnick suddenly became an orphan in the same house he used to rule over. He was silenced by his own words and deeds. He has no choice but to retreat with his tail tucked inside his balls. How are the mighty fallen. The battle of wits has been fought and won by Ahmad.
Now that Fatma Samoura will be administering the activities of CAF, lets see how Ahmad will play his next card because he is also primed to fall. Only time will tell.
