According to reports, the newly launched Africa Super League schedule to take place in August next year is facing a financial crisis as the number of teams has been reduced from twenty-four to eight teams, Abbeylivenetwork.com gathered.
The African Super League was launched by Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe in Tanzania, August this year.
The competition was learnt to be a 24-club super league that aims to revolutionize African soccer and become its richest competition but the new report says otherwise.
The league seem to have found its way into Africa as CAF under the leadership of Patrice Motsepe has agreed to the idea.
They’ve agreed that it will kick off in 2023 with 24 clubs but according to the UK-based journalist Osasuo Obayiuwana the team has been reduced to 8 for a start.
No reason was cited for the reduction in the number of participating teams.
