Nigeria CAF confederation cup representative Rivers United depart the shores of the country for Congo’s capital Brazzaville to honour their matchday one campaign against CSMD Diables Noirs FC, Abbeylivenetwork.com exclusively reports.
The club confirmed their departure Friday morning via their official social media platfroms, as the Port Harcourt based club depart for Congo’s Brazzaville at 10:25am from Muritala International Airport, Lagos via Asky Airline.
The encounter is billed for the 33, 037 capacity Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat Stadium, Brazzaville on Sunday.
Rivers United head coach Fatai Osho told Abbeylivenetwork.com shortly before departure that they are upbeat and well aware of the task at hand.
“We have to raise our heads above water. We have to be resilient. We know what we want and we have to go for it. It won’t come easy. We are aware of that,” said Osho.
However, Rivers United are looking to make history by becoming the first Nigerian club to win the CAF Confederations Cup title.
Stanley Eguma’s side also have an experienced squad full of quality players, who can hold their own against any opposition.
