Nigerian club Plateau United were knocked out of the CAF Champions League after a 1-0 loss against Esperance de Tunis, as The Peace boys could not have a foot in the group stages of CAF’s elite club competition, but a call from the referee sent them packing, Abbeylivenetwork.com reports.
Plateau United secured a first-leg advantage when they beat Esperance 2-1 at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Lagos.
The Nigerians were on the back foot from kickoff, as the Peace boys held on strong, locking their defense line.

Plateau United sat deeper throughout the first half and soaked the pressure and they were able to end the half in a scoreless affair.
The hosts were awarded a controversial penalty in the 83rd minute by the centre referee.
Ben Romdhane beat Suraj Ayeleso to send the home supporters into frenzy.
It ended 2-2 on aggregate, but the Tunisians qualified for the group stages because of the away goal rule.
