Cameroon’s head coach, Rigobert Song, dismisses any concerns within his team regarding the goalkeeping position, emphasizing the depth of talent available.
Despite surprising some by benching Manchester United’s Andre Onana in favor of Fabrice Ondoa during the 3-2 victory against Gambia, Song commends Ondoa’s commendable performance.
Expressing contentment with having two quality goalkeepers, Song states, “Cameroon is a country which has always had great goalkeepers; today, we also have two good goalkeepers. We can share playing time between them.”
He emphasizes the camaraderie among the goalkeepers, asserting, “I don’t have a problem with my goalkeepers. All my goalies are competitive. There is no controversy; they get along very well, and then the choices are made.”
With a squad of 27 players, Song asserts everyone is prepared to step up, emphasizing unity and readiness for the upcoming Round of 16 clash against Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.
