Nigerian international Cyriel Dessers has admitted that the Italian Serie A is the most competitive league he has played in, Abbeylivenetwork.com reports.

The 27-year-old is yet to register a goal since completing his move to the Italian topflight from the Belgium Pro League.

Dessers, who won the top scorer award in last season’s maiden UEFA Europa Conference League with 10 goals has failed to
replicate that form for the newly promoted Cremonese side.

The Serie A new boys are yet to record their first win after 6 matches in the Italian top-flight.

Speaking to the Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport as reported byGianluca Di Marzio, the Super Eagles striker admitted that the Serie A is a difficult league compared to the Dutch Eredivisie
and the Belgium Pro League.

“The (Italian) championship is difficult, harder than the Dutch and Belgian ones. But I knew that.

“Even for me, arriving in a newly promoted club from a club used to fighting for the title, it will not be easy.”

Cremonese will face another daunting test today when they take on Lazio on Matchday 7.

Dessers joined Cremonese from KRC Genk for €6.50m in the summer transfer window.
