Liverpool claim EFL Cup final glory with a 1-0 extra-time win over Chelsea at Wembley.
Van Dijk scored the winner with just two minutes left of extra-time after a lively contest, one that saw both sides hit the post and have a goal disallowed.
Sterling was the first to have a goal ruled out for offside, before Van Dijk had the same at the other end, while Gakpo and Gallagher both struck the woodwork for their respective teams.
The winning moment came in the 118th minute, Van Dijk showing great desire to reach Tsimikas’ corner before thundering a header into the bottom corner, giving Petrovic no chance and winning the EFL Cup for Liverpool.
In Klopp’s last season at Anfield, he lifts this trophy for the second time, though he will hope this isn’t the only silverware Liverpool take from this season.
It’s the FA Cup up next for Klopp’s men, hosting Championship side Southampton at Anfield on Wednesday, while Chelsea host Leeds United the same day, also in the cup.
