Nigeria’s former U-17 forward, Yusuf Olaitan Otubanjo, has been rewarded with a two-year contract extension by Armenian club Pyunik Yerevan, Abbeylivenetwork.com scooped.
In Pyunik, Yusuf spent his most productive season in Armenia, scoring 18 goals and 5 assists in 32 games. Otubanjo also shared the title of best scorer of the ended Fastex Armenian Premier League with Luka Juricic with 17 goals scored.
The Nigerian footballer moved to Pyunik Yerevan in the summer of 2022 from Ararat-Armenia.
He had spent three seasons at Ararat-Armenia before joining Pyunik Yerevan last summer.
Announcing the striker’s extension on their website, the club wrote
We are happy to announce that Yusuf Otubanjo and Pyunik FC have extended the contract until 2025.
“It’s a great feeling to continue the journey with Pyunik. Do you remember what successes we achieved last season? It was possible to achieve all that because we were all united, from fans to footballers and coaches. And the new season is ahead and we call you to be by our side, because thanks to you we can achieve even more”, said the forward, addressing the fans.
The forward participated in 14 matches in the European Cup games, scoring 3 goals and one assist. Yussuf’s goal against Slovan Bratislava in the group stage of the Conference League was especially impressive, which was first recognized the best goal of the week and then the most beautiful goal of the group stage, according to the vote held on the UEFA official website.
