Germany have relieved Hansi Flick as head coach nine months before the start of Euro 2024, Abbeylivenetwork.com reports.
It’s been a disastrous spell for Die Mannschaft ever since they failed to get out the group stages at the World Cup in Qatar last year.
Having lost to Japan in Wolfsburg on Saturday evening, Germany are now winless in their five previous matches. Since the World Cup, Hansi Flick’s side have only won once, which was a 2-0 victory over Peru.
For many football fans of a certain age, these sorts of issues with the German national team are quite simply unheard of. So many are used to seeing Germany win time and time again as well as reach the final stages of major competitions.
You feel the only positive for Germany right now is that they’ll be at Euro 2024 simply because they are the host nation. If they were showing such form in a qualification group, Die Mannschaft would be struggling to reach the Euros.
The question is, who will replace Hanis Flick? The hot favourite is former Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
He has been linked with the role in previous months after Germany lost to both Poland and Colombia.
Should it be Nagelsmann, he’ll have one tough job on his hands. He has nine months to change the attitude of the players and the nation.
