Frank Lampard has discussed the injury suffered by Alex Iwobi after Everton suffered a 3-1 FA Cup defeat against Manchester United on Friday, Abbeylivenetwork.com reports.

The 26-year-old Nigeria international fell awkwardly after a challenge from defender Tyrell Malacia early in the second half of the fixture at Old Trafford and he was taken off on a stretcher.

Lampard has confirmed the Super Eagles will have to undergo a scan today.

But Lampard is now saying that the Nigerian international suffered an ankle ligament injury, adding that he doesn’t know the extent of the injury.

“It’s an ankle ligament injury,” Lampard said after the match.

“We are hoping it is a lesser one but I don’t know the extent of it. He left on crutches.”
