Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman could not add to his seven league goals this season, as Spezia and Atalanta played out a thrilling 2-2 in a matchday 16 fixture of the Italian Serie A at the Stadio Alberto Picco, Abbeylivenetwork.com reports.
Atalanta were the favourites heading into the clash, having never lost to their hosts in all the five previous meetings between the two.
Ademola Lookman was in action for 57 minutes and was hauled off after he was effectively marked out by Spezia’s imposing defenders.
Spezia took an early two-goal lead within 30 minutes and M’Bala Nzola was the architect with a goal and assist but Atalanta rallied back to get at least a draw thanks to Gasperini’s impact substitutions.
Davide Zappacosta and Mario Pasalic were the heroes from the bench, Zappacosta got the assist for the first goal while Pasalic was in the right place to tap in a stoppage time equalizer.
The result means Atalanta are currently in 7th but will be leapfrogged by Roma if the Capital team wins at home against Bologna.
