The national U-17 teams of Sudan and Djibouti have be disqaulified from the U17 Africa Cup of Nations CECAFA zonal qualifiers, Abbeylivenetwork.com reports.
The two teams were sanctioned after some of their players failed the mandatory Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tests.
All the eight teams that arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia ready for the qualifiers had to undergo MRI tests.
With Sudan and Djibouti getting eliminated fresh draws had go be conducted.
It should be noted as well that Rwanda and Eritrea had earlier withdrawn from the Championship.
Auka Gecheo, the CECAFA Executive Director confirmed that the CAF Youth Organizing Committee decided to disqualify the two teams by article 27.4 of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations regulations.
The finalists at zonal qualifiers will qualify for the 2023 AFCON tournament in Algeria.
