With their recent win, the Super Eagles have secured a place in the semifinals of the AFCON tournament and are set to receive a massive prize of ₦3bn.
This is the second time they have reached this stage of the tournament since they last won it in 2013.
The Super Eagles have bagged $2.5 million (₦3 billion) for making it to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
They triumphed over Angola with a 1-0 victory and are set to face South Africa in the next round. Alongside South Africa, DR Congo, and hosts Ivory Coast, Nigeria has secured the $2.5 million prize.
Ahead of the tournament, CAF president Dr. Patrice Motsepe announced a 40% increase in prize money.
Making it to the final would have guaranteed Nigeria a minimum of $4 million (N5 billion), and winning the tournament would fetch them $7 million (N8.8 billion).
