The Tanzania National Team coach, Adel Amrouche, who is an Algerian national, has been banned for 8 games by CAF and immediately fired by Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).
CAF has handed him an eight-match ban and a $10,000 fine after he accused the Moroccan FA of controlling CAF and African football. According to reliable sources, Adel Amrouche appeared in front of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) disciplinary committee on Thursday for his accusation.
Three days before Morocco took on Tanzania in the Group F opener of the Africa Cup of Nations, Adel Amrouche accused Morocco by saying, “Currently, the FRMF is a confirmed power in the African football world. In the last match against Morocco, they forced us to play in the evening when we wanted to play in the early afternoon,” Amrouche claimed in a televised statement to an Algerian TV channel.
He further claimed that Morocco manages and determines everything in African football.
However, he was left in the cold by Tanzania FA, who through their President distanced themselves from his remarks. Tanzanian media outlet Azam TV quoted the president of the federation, Wallace Karia, who stressed that his football association does not endorse Amrouche’s remarks.
“We categorically do not endorse this statement, as we respect Morocco for its hard work in the development of football, and we will know how to respond to the coach’s reckless and provocative statement,” Karia said.
Tanzania went on to lose 3-0 against Morocco and had a player sent off in that tie.
The latest from Tanzania indicates that the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has appointed Hemed Morocco as the acting coach, and he will be assisted by Juma Mgunda,” TFF spokesman Clifford Mario Ndimbo said in a statement shared on their official Facebook page.
