Manchester City will take a vital two-goal lead into their Champions League last-16 second leg after Phil Foden’s late goal gave them a deserved 3-1 away win against Copenhagen.
Pep Guardiola’s side flew out of the traps and went ahead through Kevin De Bruyne’s tenth-minute strike but were pegged back after a mistake from Ederson allowed Magnus Mattsson to slam on his professional debut for the Danish side.
Bernardo Silva’s cute finish on the brink of half-time re-established City’s lead before the break and the reigning champions got an all-important third with the last kick of the game when De Bruyne’s low cross was thumped home by the in-form Foden.
It’s back to league action for both sides next as City host Chelsea while Copenhagen travel to take on Silkeborg.
